June 2025 Operations Update
Two Facilities & Energy Services staff members were recognized for their dedication and willingness to work through an issue until a resolution was found: Patrick Munoz, Associate Director for Facilities Management, and Amy Chen, Director of Facilities Infrastructure Systems and Aggie Dining Contract Management.
There is no shortage of activity on our campuses this summer. As we welcome new students and their loved ones for New Student Conferences, returning students and visitors for a host of classes, camps and special events, Operations and each of you play an important role.
And that importance was noted by those we serve, with colleagues taking the time to share a note of appreciation for the quality of service received. In our Facilities & Energy Services team, two of your fellow staff members were recognized for their dedication and willingness to work through an issue until a resolution was found. Thank you to Patrick Munoz, Associate Director for Facilities Management, for going the extra mile to assist with needs at the Marine One/4141 Locomotive Pavilion at the George H.W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum, and Amy Chen, Director of Facilities Infrastructure Systems and Aggie Dining Contract Management, for addressing concerns at the College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences.
On June 17, I will serve as the guest speaker for the University Staff Council (USC) Common Grounds series. If you are available to listen in, not only to my presentation at 1:30 p.m., but also the full USC meeting beginning immediately after at 2:30 p.m., I encourage you to do so. Members of the university community can join in person at the General Services Complex or virtually via Zoom.
Work to enhance mobility, safety and connectivity is officially underway as part of our 2025 Campus Mobility Improvements on the main campus. A centralized bus hub near the Memorial Student Center, expanded bicycle pathways, pedestrian-friendly streets and improved roadways are just a few of the changes intended to create an improved travel experience for our faculty, staff, students, former students and visitors. Thank you to Transportation Services and each of our operational units for your contributions as we work to complete these projects in time for the fall semester.
The weekly updates from the Provost and Executive Vice President, Dr. Alan Sams, have offered valuable information on legislative activity and policy changes at both the state and federal levels. While the state legislative session itself concluded June 2, there is still work to be done, and updates will continue to be shared to keep our university community informed. Please refer to the federal policy updates webpage to find the latest information.
Last but not least, it's already the third week of the month! Friday, June 20, Maroon and White Night offers faculty and staff discounts, special offers and more at participating businesses in historic downtown Bryan. The College of Education and Human Development will also be there to spend time with members of the university community, so consider making plans to stop by if you are around Bryan-College Station for the weekend.
